Note from David Teten
Versatile VC backs early-stage "investment tech" companies which help investors generate alpha and succeed. For example, we’re investors (via prior funds) in alternative data, investment research, back-office tech, marketplaces for private companies, and marketing tech to help gather assets.

We offer SPV syndicates to co-invest with our Fund I when there is capacity; time to run a syndicate; and the CEO agrees for us to do so. We also plan to offer follow-ons in Fund I companies in Series C, D, E and right up to final investment rounds. Some of our angels take board seats and play an active role in the overall VC process on a flexible / no-minimum-time commitment basis; others are purely passive. Angels refer deals, can help with due diligence, and/or participate in our meetings and events.

Our founder, David Teten, is part of the team building Orange Collective, a fund backed by 150+ Y Combinator alumni investing in the next generation of Y Combinator founders. He is cofounder and Chair of Action Tank, which uses AI to empower advocacy groups and other nonprofits to better accomplish their mission. David is also Chair of AltsTech, a community of investors in alternatives using AI, technology and analytics to generate alpha, and Founders’ Next Move, for tech founders exploring new ideas.

David is a Venture Partner (formerly Partner) with Coolwater Capital, the "Y Combinator for emerging VCs". Coolwater has incubated and helped launch >300 funds which have collectively raised >$3b. David worked on almost all aspects of building ffVC, with particular focus on fintech investments, Canadian investments, and building out the ffVC platform. He served on the boards of Authorea (sold to Wiley), Earnest Analytics (Observer, sold to Consumer Edge), Ionic (sold to Twilio), Signup.com, & Whisk (sold to Deem).

He also founded in 2010 and chaired HBS Alumni Angels of Greater NY, now the East Coast’s largest angel group.
