• Grant Gilliam, Co-Founder and Managing Partner: Grant Gilliam brings over 15 years of professional investing experience to his role at Ten31. Prior to co-founding Ten31, Grant was most recently a Director at CVC Capital Partners, a global private equity firm with over $50 billion in assets under management. Grant worked for CVC for 13 years, where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing, and managing investments across a range of industries. Grant was most recently responsible for leading the US efforts of CVC Strategic Opportunities, which managed approximately $10 billion across two funds during his tenure. While at CVC, Grant completed investments totaling more than $3 billion in equity deployed and sat on several boards of multi-billion dollar companies. Prior to joining CVC, Grant spent 3 years at Credit Suisse in New York and London. Grant has been an active angel investor for 10 years, investing in roughly 100 companies over that period. Grant currently sits on the boards of Strike, StatMuse, and Samourai Wallet, and is board observer at Unchained.
• Jonathan Kirkwood, Co-Founder and Managing Partner: Jonathan Kirkwood (MD / MBA) began his career in medicine, practicing as a physician for several years before pursuing his MBA. After business school, Jonathan founded a multi-million dollar biotechnology hedge fund that built proprietary models to de-risk biotech companies’ catalytic events as they progressed through the drug development process. Jonathan became interested in bitcoin after identifying parallels between his fund’s biotech strategy and bitcoin’s price volatility, and he began investing in bitcoin-focused companies in 2019. Jonathan currently sits on the boards of Start9 Labs and Battery Finance.
• Matt Odell, Managing Partner: Matt Odell is a leading bitcoin expert with over 10 years of experience in developing bitcoin content and advising bitcoin companies. Matt is one of the foremost voices in the bitcoin ecosystem and has spent more than 5 years producing some of the most popular and widely shared bitcoin content, including podcasts Citadel Dispatch and Rabbit Hole Recap (co-hosted with Ten31 Managing Partner Marty Bent). Matt is a Co-Founder of OpenSats, one of the largest nonprofits funding bitcoin developers and open source projects, and Bitcoin Park, a bitcoin-focused co-working space and event venue in Nashville, TN. His wide-ranging experience in the space also includes time as a key member of Bitcoin Magazine and advisory roles at Swan Bitcoin, Hoseki, and more.
• Marty Bent, Managing Partner: Marty Bent is also a prominent authority in the bitcoin ecosystem with over 10 years of experience in the space. Marty is the founder of TFTC.io, a media company focused on bitcoin and its intersection with financial markets, technology, and geopolitics. Marty has produced thousands of pieces of educational content focused on bitcoin and its role in current events, and has spent more than 5 years as the host of the TFTC podcast and as a co-host of Rabbit Hole Recap (alongside Ten31 Managing Partner Matt Odell). During his time in the bitcoin ecosystem, Marty has also developed a strong track record in bitcoin, including serving as Director of Business Development at Great American Mining and currently as Co-Founder of Standard Bitcoin and a board member of Cathedra Bitcoin.
• John Arnold, Principal: John Arnold brings over 8 years of institutional investing experience to the Ten31 team. Prior to joining Ten31 in 2022, John worked for over 5 years as a public markets equity analyst for hedge funds Citadel and Crestline Investors. During his time at Citadel and Crestline, John helped guide the deployment of hundreds of millions of dollars of capital with a focus on high-growth healthcare technology companies. Before that, John began his career as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs, where he advised on several multi-billion dollar transactions.
