After nearly 70 angel investments starting in the early 1990s, I’m focusing on early-stage biotech startups that are angel-scale ie have: (1) committed academic or industry founders (2) strong patents, (3) tech of interest to strategics, (4) multiple use cases, and (5) modest funding needs. I’m on the board of one such company (savrantech.com), I led the angel round for SQZ Biotech (SQZ:NYSE), and was an early investor in Gelesis, Inc. (GLS). I was also an early investor in Akili Interactive that has an FDA-cleared game to treat ADHD and Vedanta Biosciences, a leader in the micro biome therapy space.
