Why are we doing this?
Opportunity Hub has established an Angel List syndicate to provide new and existing angel investors, particularly but not exclusively from underrepresented communities, access to vetted investment opportunities in disruptive, high growth startups and early stage companies cofounded by men and women from those same companies. As a precedence, we welcome investors from all cultural backgrounds.
Who is doing this?
Opportunity Hub (OHUB) is the largest majority minority owned multi campus coworking space, pre-accelerator and incubator in the world. Rodney Sampson is the lead investor, cofounder & CEO. OHUB pre-accelerates and incubates diverse and inclusive startups from ideation to minimum viable product to market and beyond.
How are we qualified to do this?
Our Cofounders have experienced successful exits as entrepreneurs and investors in tech, consumer goods, enterprise (SAAS) and beyond. Our carefully hand picked Advisors which include Paul Judge, Lauren Maillian, Troy Carter and Judy Robinett work with us to complete more than 70 hours of due diligence on each startup we decide to invest in.
Additionally, because of our national and global influence and work to diversify today's startup culture, we have access to the majority of fundable and investable disruptive, high growth and scalable startups that are cofounded by men and women of color, many from underserved socio-economic communities.
Our objective is to invest in startups during the family, friends and early seed stages, particularly given that most black, brown, female and startups from underserved communities have difficulty in raising their first $50 - $100K. We have aligned with mainstream angel groups, accelerators, incubators and seed funds that have committed to provide admission and/or follow capital to the startups we pipeline.
Our social impact
Our ultimate goal is to expose, educate and engage emerging angel investors of color as a definitive solution to addressing our nation's poverty and wealth gap via investment in innovation, entrepreneurship and access to capital that directly impact these communities and beyond.
