Goodfellas is my way to play a little role in the technology startup ecosystem. Over the years I've had the fortunate experience of working with a lot of incredible people and the genesis of Goodfellas was to be a part of their journey as they went about their entrepreneurial dreams. I started this syndicate to go deeper into B2B technology startups (SaaS, developer tools) which are looking at a global market.
About the Lead
I've spent the last decade around B2B startups as an early employee or founder of GreyOrange (warehousing automation, $270M raised from Tiger, Mithril) Belong (HR Tech, $15m raised from Sequoia, Matrix), Appsmith (low code, $10M raised from Canaan, Accel). I've also been an investor / advisor to a bunch of startups like Bitespeed (follow on by Sequoia), OpenWrench (YC, Haystack, Sahil Lavingia, Flexport) Pagarbook (follow co-invested with Sequoia), Loop (follow on by Speciale), Argonaut (co-invested with YC, Quiet Capital), SuperK (co-invested with Binny Bansal), BicycleAI (YC) + many more).
I also spent a couple of years as a VC, but I don't talk much about that :)
Focus
Our core focus areas will be B2B software looking at global markets with a large enough TAM. This includes themes like vertical SaaS, developer tools and commercial open source software.
In addition, we will opportunistically also be looking at startups from other industries where we know the founders for a long time or startups that come highly recommended by other angels from syndicate from their areas of expertise.
Investment Strategy
Our sweet spot is going to be pre-seed to Series A where we can get an allocation of anywhere between $50K-$250K typically at a $5-$30M valuation.
Given that it's early days, we're flexible on our investment strategy. What this means is that if we see a great company with fast-growing revenues and get an allocation at a $100M valuation, but there is conviction that it might become a $5B company, we will go ahead with it.
We intend to play a collaborative role, frequently co-investing with other syndicates and institutional investors.
The dealflow will come from our prior relationships with founders ecosystems as well as other syndicates and venture funds we have a good relationship with.
I will syndicate all the deals that I invest in, as long as the founder is ok with it.
