NewSchools is a mission driven fund that has been investing in early stage education startups for the last 15 years, including education technology tools, charter schools, and teacher training organizations. We were founded by Kim Smith, John Doerr, and Brook Byers and are currently backed by the Gates, Dell, and Sobrato foundations among others. The NewSchools Seed Fund has a focus specifically on edtech and has made 23 investments in the last two years with plans to invest at the same pace moving forward. We have an inbound pipeline of 10-20 companies per week and are considered market experts. We are a mission driven nonprofit with a strong focus on efficacy, and all our returns on investment get recycled into the fund.

As a nonprofit investor, we have had over 50 co-investors alongside us in the last year and are always focused on bringing the appropriate amount of capital to our ventures. We will syndicate all our deals we think can benefit from being a part of the AngelList community.
