Potluck Ventures is an impact-driven VC fund investing in the next generation of breakout Asian founders. While we are extremely focused on supporting our founders and delivering strong financial returns for LPs, our fund is equally focused on unifying and upleveling the Asian community through our events and networking series.
Most of us have heard the stories of the glass ceiling for Asian Americans:
~20% of VC professionals are Asian but control less than 1% of AUM
~40% of employees at bay area technology companies are Asian but are least likely to get promoted to leadership roles
But... ~26% of unicorns now have at least 1 Asian co-founder
We are the generation that is changing the narrative. The time is now to double down on our momentum.
The next generation of decacorns ($10B+ valuation companies) will be founded by an even more diverse set of founders, many of whom will be Asian and will want to tap into Potluck's growing community of Asian cultural leaders, VC/PE investment professionals, and supporters to help scale their businesses. We're excited to back these founders and hope all of you join us to influence social change through venture investments.
As for my background, I'm an ABC (American-born Chinese) and my parents moved to the U.S. from Hong Kong in the '70s. I've spent the past six years in VC/growth equity at several multi-billion dollar AUM firms including Fifth Wall, JMI Equity, and AXA Venture Partners. I've invested ~$375M in over 25 leading technology companies including Neighbor, Flyhomes, Aurora Solar, Built Technologies, and Turntide Technologies, 4 of which have become unicorns and 7 of which are led by Asian and/or diverse founders. I've also led and syndicated three investments before launching Potluck.
