We have strong operating background in the startup. We have been there done that. Here is my resume record in Startups and some big companies where we acquired startups. In short, have battle scars to prove that we know and will be able to source deals with high probability of success by separating structural issues from fixable ones in the startups. We will have deal flow from verticals such as Security, IT Operations and Med tech. We want to invest in 10 companies over 2 years and want to get 3-5X return on the fund. Our goal is to write $10,000 USD check per investment and we are raising $150K.
For security I am getting deal flow from
- My network (Demisto, Cylance, CrowdStrike, CipherCloud, Arcsight, Sumo Logic, Cisco and many other companies from Security space)
- Being a judge at SINET 16 competition.
- As an advisor (last company advised was Aruvio GRC SaaS Startup which got acquired)
1. iPolicy Networks - First network security company to unify multiple security function. We failed and around same time Palo Alto Networks started and today Palo Alto Networks is $20B. At iPolicy was managing AT&T as a customer to address their new feature requests.
2. Agiliance : First IT-GRC company with focus on automating compliance. Created Privacy manager product, bootstrapped the services organization.
3. McAfee: Worked with Stuart McClure, the CEO of Cylance and was part of the CTO team. Led competitive strategy and worked with first application whitelisting product, first product to correlate vulnerabilities with security controls. Chose McAfee because of their story of a single agent, single management console.
3. Guavus: First streaming analytics for telco. Big Data. In 8 months created working prototype of a security analytics product based on Guavus platform.
4. Sumo Logic: First machine data analytics platform in the AWS. Ran competitive strategy and today Sumo is going IPO. Worked on content strategy to create more leads, and created value engineering team.
We will not share all the deals. We will only share deals which passes the sniff test.
1. Founder's background check
2. Product prototype is ready and its feasible.
3. Atleast 2 person team
If deal matches these criteria, will share with everyone.
