Note from Cameron Meekins
Hi, I’m Cam Meekins. As a Billboard-charting recording artist, I’ve traveled the world performing my music. Now as a venture investor, I’ve made a number of investments alongside Funds such as Target Global, Fidelity Ventures, and BlackRock. Through my network in entertainment, sports & media I bring unique access to deal-flow not only through traditional methods but through a network of high net-worth celebrity and public figure investors.
Story
I’ve gone against the grain my whole life. At 15 years old, a life-threatening accident left me in the hospital for 2 weeks. After 3 months of recovery, this traumatic experience became an inflection point in my life. Simply put, I realized in life we all have to choose whether we will make excuses or make moves. Identifying whether or not an individual has that perspective is an important part of my due diligence process.
After reaching my inflection point, I decided to go all-in on my first passion, music. Three years later, I had a record deal with Atlantic Records and a top-charting album titled, Lamp City.
Lamp City is the name that encompasses my lifestyle, my brand, and core values. I believe in big ideas (lightbulb), executing on your dreams, and most importantly CREATING.
Investing
As I progressed in my entertainment career, I found my next passion of investing & helping founders. I’ve been lucky to grow my shop to participate in deals alongside some of the biggest names in VC & Media such as Fidelity Ventures, Altimeter Capital, Whale Rock Capital, BlackRock, Dragoneer, General Catalyst, Latitude, Durable Capital Partners, Tal Capital, Avid Ventures, Spark Capital, Warner Music Group, and Stripe, in addition to celebrity investors and professional athletes.
Select deals I’ve participated in:
● Spotify
● Rapyd (Series E)
● Slate Milk (Series A)
● Stone & Skillet (Series B)
Additionally, I serve as Chairman & Founding Member for the rapidly growing CPG company, Stone & Skillet. Stone & Skillet distributes and manufactures bread products nationally in retailers such as Whole Foods, Imperfect Foods, Gelsons, and more.
My strategy includes:
● Sourcing deals where my value-add in digital, e-comm and social affords early access to the best investments and,
● Leveraging my personal media platform & unique network to add value to my portfolio companies
My network includes top media & entertainment CEOs, professional athletes, celebrities, artists, agency executives, high net-worth individuals, CPG industry executives, fund managers, health insurance executives, influencers, tastemakers, and more.
Through this network, my access to deal-flow is vast. I will leverage my relationships from day one to get access to the best deals. I will invest alongside the top funds, but more importantly, I will sift through the minutiae and find the right deals with the right people who align with my fundamental beliefs on personal responsibility and accountability.
My work with founders will include connecting the right dots across various industries where founders may need an in. (Ie. a portfolio company needs a licensing deal with Snapchat).
My goal is to make a positive impact in the VC space, particularly with regards to unequal capital allocation across different founder demographics, which is why I need your help & participation in this rolling fund.
I will focus on early-stage investing in the CPG, media & tech space but will support great ideas and great people at any stage in any sector.
I plan to invest in 3-4 companies per quarter where my value-add gives me a competitive advantage to 1. Accelerate growth through digital strategies and 2. Get in the right deals with the right people.
Thank you,
Cam Meekins
